Bisi Bele Bhat Making Made Easier

Bisi Bele Bhat Making Made Easier On YouTube.

Bisi bele bhat ( or actually bisi bele huli anna in kannada literally means hot lentil tamarind rice ) is a very popular delicacy among south indian cuisine.. since it involves a large number of ingredients, getting it right is a little of an art .. requires one or two attempts to perfect it .. here is how it is made: First off you cook in a pressure cooker, equal quantities of rice with toor dall .. adding any of your preferred vegetables typically, potatoes, brinjals, beans, carrots, peas ( capsicum also, not shown here ) .. you can add any one or all . or even none of the vegetables and keep aside... then you mix about one or two or three ( depending upon whether you want it spicy) heaped teaspoons of nalgari powder in tamarind juice .. and keep aside.. then in a kadai, heat some cooking oil and add to it some chick peas with husk, some peanuts, and karepak.. optionally some hing ( asafoetida ) .. wait for the peanuts to fry fully.. then pour the tamarind juice into oil and wait a couple of minutes till the juice just begins to boil.. at this stage add the cooked (rice+dall+vegetables) mixture into the kadai and mix thoroughly .. wait till the mass just begins to boil and thicken a bit ( it thickens much more when cooled ) .. turn off the heat .. add salt, and some grated coconut.. and EAT! Note: It is served with a little ghee,, and additionally some papads go well with it .. in case you need
